The day was overcast, but warm and it had been threatening to
rain all day, but remained dry. My daughter, who was 8 at the
time, my son who was 5 and a little girlfriend who had come over
to play, were outside on the front patio. I was making lunch for
all of them, soup and sandwiches. As the soup was warming on
the stove, I sat down at the kitchen table and gave way to tears
for a few minutes and then pulled myself together again to finish
lunch. I thought the kids would like pickles on the side and so took
those out and when I bit into one myself, one of my back molars
broke in half.

I guess that was the last straw for me that day and I sit down and
wept for real. Then I began to pray for help. I closed my eyes and
folded my hands and said, "Dear Lord. I feel like I'm at the end of
my rope and I could use a little help. I'm not asking you to fix my
life for me; just for you to let me know that you really love me and
are with me, because if I can know that, I can get through anything!"

I began to see a white mist before my inner eyes and out of the
mist His hand came, stretched out toward me. In my mind's eye,
I reached out for His hand with mine and our fingers just touched.
I then felt very peaceful inside and stood up to call the kids inside
to eat lunch. But just as I stood up, the two girls came running into
the kitchen, very much excited and yelling, "It's raining love on the
patio!"

Not knowing what kind of foolishness this was, I told them to sit
down to eat. But they were insistent and each girl took one of my
hands and dragged me out onto the front patio.

And there was love on the patio! The rain had begun to fall in a very
gentle mist. But as it fell onto the cement, it pooled itself into very
precise letters that spelled L-O-V-E. I have never seen anything so
amazing in my life. As the rain continued to fall, the letters became
darker, filled in more and outlined. I knew this was the answer to
my prayer.

I ran into the house to get my old camera so I could take a picture,
but the word was so large that I couldn't fit it into the frame.
My neighbor's teenage son just happened to come around the
corner, saw what was happening and what I was trying to do,
took the camera out of my hands, climbed to the roof of the shed
and took the picture for me from above.

The rain began to fall even harder, but the water continued to pool
in such a way as to form the word "LOVE". No matter how heavy
the rain got, the letters would be darker. It remained like that all
that night and didn't disappear until late the next morning even
though it had poured all night long."
