This is Mauna Kea, the "white mountain" shown snowcapped in the winter.
At the summit . . . .
Mauna Kea observatories will participate in the celebration of the International Year of Astronomy. Each of the observatories will present a five-minute introductory video and a 10-minute live conversation with observers in the control room. New images, never before seen publicly,will be presented.
During the following 24 hours, other observatories around the world will be featured. On Mauna Kea, Big Island of Hawaii, you will learn about the following facilities:
